Our Mission
The Kim Alverson Foundation is dedicated to showing the love of Christ by helping caregivers support their loved ones in their fight against cancer. Caregivers are vital to a cancer patient by providing support, love, and encouragement. Our belief is that if we help caregivers, we are also helping the patient. The Kim Alverson Foundation is committed to helping caregivers financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Our Story
While Kim fought against cancer, she often talked about how she would help other patients when she beat it. She did beat cancer by gaining the ultimate reward of joining our Lord. So we, her family, are here to carry on her legacy and fulfill her goal.
While taking Kim to treatment, Travis, Kim's husband, saw many patients going through treatments and appointments alone. He wondered if their caregivers were having to choose between providing financially or being physically present. So when we were brainstorming which direction to take the Kim Alverson Foundation, he wanted to offer support that allowed caregivers to be with their loved ones as much as possible. Caregivers are often faced with the decision to miss work or leave patients alone. We hope that caregivers can find relief in that their bills will still be paid while they care for those that they love.
While meeting physical needs is very important, we did not want to neglect the emotional and spiritual needs of cancer caregivers. We formed a community of ministers and Christian counselors to provide much needed support. A healthy caregiver leads to healthier patients. May we always remember that in times of trouble, our help comes ultimately from the Lord (Psalms 121:1).
While we miss Kim every day, we know that she would be proud of the work that is being done. It has been an honor to care for families since September 2024. We thank the Lord for His guidance, increase, and blessings through this journey.
